Don't let liquid spills and nasty stains ruin your furniture…
Follow our tips below on how to clean a fabric sofa with baking soda and cleaning solutions.
How to Get Water Stains Out of a Couch
Sometimes accidents happen. Spilling a glass of water over your seat cushion or couch, can be really annoying at the time, but to be honest, it’s not so bad.
As long as you react quickly your sofa will recover quickly.
First thing to do is to grab a vacuum and remove the worst of the spill. Don't forget to set your vacuum to the liquid setting before sucking up as much of the moisture as you can.
Once you’ve vacuumed up the excess, you may be left with a stain - this just means that some liquid is trapped inside the fibres of the material on your couch. A good idea is to try the diluted vinegar. Once you've got a solution, spray a little on the area that is affected, and use a clean white cloth to work it into the material.
Use a towel to blot the spill. If you've got a micro-fibre towel or cloth, which is much more absorbent, this will help absorb any excess liquid.
Grease Staines on Your Couch
Grease stains aren't fun and can be a little more difficult, but it is possible to remove them. Get hold of some baking soda and sprinkle it on the stained area. Baking soda is very absorbent and sprinkling just a little bit over the stained area the will help lift the grease from the surface.
Ideally, leave the baking soda on the stain for 30 minutes to give it time to fully soak in. Then vacuum it up and if necessary, blotting with a clean dry cloth afterwards
How to Clean a Stain on a Fabric Sofa
Try and blot up the stain as quickly as possible, before it soaks deeper into the fabric. Always check the manufacturers recommendations before using any cleaning solutions on your couch. You must be careful with this, because certain cleaning products could mean permanently damaging your furniture.
Best advice here is to read the labels on your furniture by checking the cleaning codes. Located on the sofa will be a label, try looking under the cover if it has one. Marked on the label will be certain codes:
“W” = "water-based cleaner "– Only use a water-based cleaner to clean the fabric.
“S/W” = "solvent" - meaning you can only use a solvent to clean your upholstery.
“S” = "solvent”– meaning you can only use a solvent cleaner upholstery.
Use a dry brush to remove loose spillage and go over the entire couch with a stiff brush to remove any dust from the surface.
Next, vacuum. Use a vacuum to remove any debris or loose particles,
Then, use baking soda. As previously mentioned baking soda is highly absorbent. Cover the affected area and leave for 20 to 30 minutes. Then vacuum it up and if need, use a brush attachment. Once you’ve discovered what the recommended agent is for cleaning your couch, just spot check it on a hidden area - to make sure it doesn't permanently damage the material.
Finally, dry the fabric on your couch using a towel. Blotting any areas affected, to soak up any residual moisture.
Then you'll need to let your sofa dry naturally. Leave it overnight for best results.

What Our Customers are Saying About Us
"These guys were simply the best carpet cleaners! It was the first time I had used them after moving here from up north. They arrived on time, were courteous and did a fantastic job of cleaning my dirty stained carpets. Aaron even came back the next day to remove a new stain, caused when my puppy threw up right in the middle of the room. Highly recommended."

"Arrived early. Brought our high-quality but older carpet back to life and removed two stubborn stains. Also deep-cleaned the grout on our tile floors. These guys are friendly, courteous, professional and informative. I've never seen a carpet cleaning company place furniture protectors on the corners of chairs and couches to protect the furniture from the hoses as they move them through the house. Very cool feature. Excellent service, quality and pricing." Al Jensen - Gilbert
